Abstract

The article explores the impact of global geo-economic and geopolitical changes on the world market of information technologies, with a particular emphasis on microchip production. It discusses the growing shortage of resources for IT technology development as an unexpected negative consequence of globalization, highlighting new geopolitical challenges the global economy faces. T The analysis highlights how globalization and technological progress have led to significant changes in geoeconomics and geopolitics, emphasizing the role of microchips as a crucial global resource. Special attention is paid to the impact of these processes on the world microchip market, where the competition for technological dominance becomes particularly acute between the USA, Europe, and China.

The potential of Ukraine as an important geopolitical and economic partner has been determined, capable of playing a key role in reindustrialization and the development of new technologies, especially in light of military conflicts and their impact on global supply chains, including critical resources. Ukraine's strategic location, skilled workforce, and potential for technological innovation make it a significant player in the global microchip market. It is shown that, as of early 2024, there is a program being prepared for creating a network of companies for automated microchip design, with production capacities estimated at 50,000 microchips per month to meet internal needs, with a perspective on external markets. Significant attention is given to the issue of shortages of critical resources, such as neon for microchip production, especially in the context of the Russian aggression, which has shown the fragility of the geopolitical and geo-economic systems.

The article emphasizes the importance of relocating high-tech production to Western countries and the USA as a response to global challenges. It forecasts a decrease in dependency on China for microchip production and calls for international cooperation to address global challenges such as climate change and pandemics, requiring joint efforts. The use of regulatory mechanisms and innovative approaches to adapt to the changing geo-economic landscape is proposed, highlighting the need to support national productions and technological separation, which refers to the strategic diversification of technology suppliers to reduce dependency on a single country, to ensure national security and economic development.
